Thermostable vaccines that do not require cold chain are being developed. Plant based vaccine production offers rapid scalable manufacturing. The next decade will likely see vaccines for diseases that have resisted vaccine development including HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and cancer. However, vaccine hesitancy and misinformation remain significant barriers. The success of future vaccination programs depends as much on social science as on biomedical science.
