Vaccine ACIP
About Vaccine ACIP
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices ACIP was established in 1964. The committee of voting members provides recommendations on vaccine use in the US civilian population. ACIP recommendations determine which vaccines are covered by insurance under the Affordable Care Act and which are purchased through the Vaccines for Children program. ACIP meets three times per year. Meetings are public and webcast. Recommendations require a majority vote. The committee reviews safety data at every meeting. ACIP issues the US childhood and adult immunization schedules. In June 2025, Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr removed all 17 members of the committee and appointed new members, a move criticized by many medical organizations. The integrity of the ACIP is critical for vaccine policy, as its recommendations drive clinical practice and insurance coverage.
